The Iona Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP) is a STEM enrichment program for students in grades 7th - 12th.
Experience in teaching middle school and high school math (pre-algebra, algebra and trigonometry, and/or algebra I, pre-calculus, and AP calculus).
Implement the curriculum as written, adapting it as needed to improve the student experience.
Experience with lesson planning and project-based learning.
Possess excellent knowledge in the subject area.
A passion for working with middle school and high school students; supporting and engaging students in a rich environment; creating meaningful relationships with students.
Support students through problem-solving and designing, providing troubleshooting when needed.
Encourage students on an individual basis, while innovating, collaborating, and creating an outstanding math education.
Work in close collaboration with the STEP Director, STEP Assistant Director, STEP Student Advisor, and STEP Faculty Advisor.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
BS in mathematics, secondary math education, or a related field. MS Degree in the subject area and/or MA in education is preferred.
One to three years of successful teaching experience.
Strong problem-solving, analytical skills, and creative thinking skills.
