Associates degree in science field.
Required Related Experience
Work experience that involves organization and time management skills, basic computer literacy including MS Excel/Google sheets, basic familiarity with a laboratory setting (e.g. via lab coursework).
Required License/Registration/Certification Physical Requirements
Some lifting of boxes of boxes of lab supplies or equipment (max ~30 lbs), some periods of standing >1 hr, some periods of sitting at a microscope for 3-4 hrs.
Shift
Monday - Friday 9am - 5:30pm (flexible, including 30 min lunch break). Occasional weekend hours to set up experimental time courses for a total of no more than 40 hours/wk.
Job Summary
The College of Arts & Sciences is seeking a STEPS Lab Technician to support the research activities of Dr. Alexandra Long's lab in the Department of Biology at the University of Kentucky.
The Long lab focuses on understanding the mechanisms behind the proper organization of the cytoskeleton, using chytrid fungi as an emerging model system and employing tools from cell biology and biophysics, with a particular emphasis on high-resolution light microscopy.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? No Preferred Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree in Biology preferred. Experience in a research laboratory setting and/or experience in molecular biology, microbiology, or microscopy techniques preferred.
