TOPS Surgical Specialty Hospital, a part of United Surgical Partners International (USPI), is seeking a skilled Sterile Processing Technician to join our dedicated surgical services team. Our hospital provides a wide range of surgical specialties with a strong commitment to patient safety, quality, and excellent outcomes.

The Sterile Processing Technician plays a vital role in ensuring safe, high-quality patient care by maintaining the cleanliness, sterilization, and functionality of surgical instruments and equipment. This role requires attention to detail, a commitment to safety standards, and the ability to work collaboratively with nurses, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Decontaminate, clean, inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
  • Operate and monitor sterilizers, washers, and other processing equipment according to established procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles, equipment tests, and inventory.
  • Ensure surgical case carts are complete, properly assembled, and ready for use.
  • Inspect instruments for proper function and remove defective items from circulation.
  • Adhere to infection control and safety standards at all times.
  • Collaborate with the operating room team to ensure instrument needs are met for scheduled procedures.
  • Assist with ordering and inventory management of sterile processing supplies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (CBSPD or IAHCSMM) preferred.
  • Previous experience in sterile processing or central supply strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of sterilization techniques, infection prevention, and instrument handling.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain accuracy under time-sensitive conditions.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
