Job Summary

Sterile Processing Technician
Summary
The Sterile Processing Technician plays a key role in ensuring safe, high quality surgical care by performing instrument decontamination, assembly, and sterilization in accordance with infection control standards, industry guidelines, and regulatory requirements. This role does not provide direct patient care.
Essential Functions
• Instrument processing — Processes specialty and general instruments and resets instrument sets accurately.
• Decontamination — Cleans and decontaminates instruments and equipment following established procedures.
• Tray assembly — Prepares and assembles surgical trays and equipment based on established tray listings.
• Inventory support — Maintains stock levels within the Central Sterile Department.
• Quality communication — Identifies and reports instrument repair needs to the supervisor.


 

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience in lieu of degree: Not accepted
  • Credentials: CRCST certification (HSPA) preferred
  • Knowledge & Skills:
    • Case cart assembly
    • Regulatory standards for materials management
    • Ability to test, inspect, and evaluate equipment and processes

Physical Requirements

Standing, walking, lifting (35+ lbs with assistance), carrying, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, fingering, and consistent visual and auditory acuity.
