A healthcare facility in Machias, ME is seeking a skilled Sterile Processing Technician to support Operating Room services by ensuring proper decontamination, sterilization, and preparation of surgical instruments and equipment in compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
Perform decontamination and sterilization of surgical instruments using gas and steam autoclaves
Conduct and document daily biological and chemical testing of sterilization equipment
Inspect autoclaves for proper operation and identify visible malfunctions
Assemble, wrap, and prepare surgical instrument trays for sterilization
Follow manufacturer guidelines for cleaning and processing instruments and equipment
Clean and sterilize endoscopy scopes
Apply aseptic techniques in all assigned tasks
Store processed supplies and equipment according to established protocols
Maintain accurate records, logs, and documentation
Assist with training and onboarding of new staff
Receive, distribute, and manage surgical supply requisitions
Order departmental supplies as needed
Participate in Quality Improvement initiatives
Comply with safety policies, Code of Conduct, and all regulatory requirements
Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)
Certified Endoscope Re-processor (CER)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
