Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician
Location: Elmhurst, IL
Duration: 13 Weeks (Contract)
Shift: 2nd Shift – 5x8 (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM)
Guaranteed Hours: 40/week

Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician to support surgical instrument reprocessing in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in decontamination, assembly, and sterilization while maintaining strict adherence to industry standards and infection control protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow ANSI/AAMI standards, manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs), and internal SOPs
- Decontaminate surgical instruments using appropriate PPE and infection control procedures
- Disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble complex surgical instruments
- Accurately assemble and package instrument trays
- Operate sterilization equipment including washers, disinfectors, and autoclaves
- Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage prior to sterilization
- Maintain documentation of sterilization cycles and instrument tracking
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure availability of required supplies
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of sterilization equipment
Required Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Certifications
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or equivalent (e.g., CIS)
Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of sterile processing experience
- Strong knowledge of sterilization techniques (steam sterilization, infection control practices)
- Familiarity with ANSI/AAMI standards and IFUs
- Experience operating washer disinfectors, autoclaves, and related equipment
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- Ability to multitask and prioritize workload effectively
- Basic computer proficiency and documentation skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in quality control within sterile processing
