**Job Description:**

**Key Responsibilities:**

- Perform all aspects of instrument sterilization processes, specifically for ophthalmic instruments, including decontamination, cleaning, packaging, sterilization, and storage.
- Operate and maintain sterilization equipment, such as autoclaves and ultrasonic cleaners, ensuring all are functioning correctly and meeting industry standards.
- Monitor and document sterilization processes, verifying that all instruments meet safety and compliance guidelines.
- Collaborate with ophthalmologists, nurses, and other medical staff to ensure timely preparation and availability of sterile instruments for procedures.
- Conduct regular inventory checks and manage the ordering of necessary supplies for instrument sterilization.
- Follow and enforce all relevant safety regulations and protocols to minimize the risk of infection or contamination.
- Participate in continuous education and training to stay updated with advances in sterilization techniques and best practices in the ophthalmology field.
- Assist in developing and updating sterilization procedures and protocols in line with current healthcare standards.

**Qualifications:**

- Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (such as CRCST or CSPDT) is required.
- Previous experience as a sterilization technician, particularly in an ophthalmology or eye care setting, is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of sterilization techniques and infection control standards.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to maintaining patient safety.
- Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
