The ancestors of the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation existed many centuries ago as a community of people…a Tribe living together farming hunting and fishing to survive.

Much has changed since that time. Today the Sycuan Tribe governs its Reservation, owns and operates a Casino and a Golf Resort, and owns a number of other business ventures in the San Diego Region. Job Purpose Provides clean dishes and utensils and maintains safe and sanitary kitchens.

Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesNote: Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at the sole discretion of Sycuan Management at any time.

• Provides kitchen with adequate supply of clean pots, pans, utensils, and dishware by scraping, racking, stacking, and washing; unloading dishwasher; manually washing items as needed; and putting items away when dry to the appropriate area.
• Ensures kitchen safety by organizing soiled pots, pans, and dishes prior to loading them into the dishwasher; mopping and cleaning spills; and placing caution signs on wet floors and in hazardous areas according to established procedures.
• Maintains sanitary kitchen by cleaning counters, shelves, walls, ceilings, and equipment; sweeping and mopping floors; placing soiled linen and towels into appropriate bins according to established procedures.
• Ensures a clean and orderly storage area by arranging and straightening food products and equipment; wiping shelves and counters; disposing of empty cartons, boxes, and trash; and sweeping and mopping storage area floors.
• Complete mandatory trainings, including but not limited to health and safety, as required by the department.

Job Specifications

Education and Experience

• Essential: County of San Diego Food Handler Card
• Desirable:
• Dishwashing experience
• Custodial or janitorial experience

Skills and Knowledge

• Essential:
• Ability to work effectively with team members
• Ability to communicate effectively in the English language
• Ability to maintain professionalism and composure
• Ability to understand verbal directives and written instructions
• Ability to accept constructive criticism
• Ability to routinely lift and carry 50 pounds
• Ability to stand and walk for up to 8 hours at a time
• Ability to bend, stoop, push, and pull
• Ability to appear for work on time
• Desirable: Multi Lingual
