Chevron USA - Marine is accepting online applications for the position of Steward located on one of their US Flag fleet of vessels through July 29th, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. (PST).

The Steward is the department head of the vessels Galley department and reports directly to the Master of the vessel. Key Job Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Must be professionally skilled in the preparation of meals that are nutritious and healthy.

  • Routine duties require supervision of galley staff; overseeing meal service operations; supply management; and ensuring the department complies with company sanitary and safety standards.

  • Specific tasks includes: ordering and inventory of provision supplies; menu planning; supervision of daily meal production; recipe development; maintaining sanitary environment; and complying with budget requirements.

  • Must make sure that date-stamping for provision rotation is followed.

  • Oversees the department in sustaining all galley areas, mess rooms and accommodation spaces are clean and in hygienic condition.

  • Responsible for discipline, welfare of galley personnel and adherence to company policies including training and development of staff; providing feedback and completing performance evaluations; and record keeping of hours worked.

  • Must be knowledgeable in: meal planning; food nutrition values; preparation techniques; use of raw ingredients; baking; and proper storage of provisions.

  • Must have competent computer skills and ability to use and adapt to current ordering software.

  • Hands-on leader in all daily functions of the galley department including meal production, cleaning and maintenance of galley areas, receiving and control of stores.

Safety:

  • Participate in drills, emergency procedures and help guard the safe working practices of the vessel.

  • Active and positive participation in safety meetings.

  • Points out unsafe acts or conditions to everyone on board.

  • Stop work if unsafe conditions or practices are uncovered.

  • Able to participate in an Emergency Response Team.

Required Qualifications:

  • Current USCG Merchant Mariner Documents with Food Handling, and Basic Safety Training and VPDSD endorsements

  • Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)

  • Valid Passport

  • Excellent supervisory and communication skills

  • ServSafe Certified in Food Service Management within six months of hiring

  • Relevant experience / training in food service operations (non-fast food)

Relocation Options:

Relocation will not be considered within Chevron parameters.

Expatriate assignments will not be considered.
