Stitch Operator

We are seeking a Full-Time Stitch Operator to become an integral part of our team here at Columbia Safety & Supply! This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is looking to join a growing company. At our family of companies, we specialize in fall protection, personal protective equipment, industrial tools, and safety equipment for at-height industries. The Stitch Operator is accountable for successfully and efficiently meeting the needs of clients, via the orders placed for customized products. This role is to engage with the daily demands of customization activities including understanding and communicating needs for the flow of products, taking ownership of high-quality and efficient output, and working as needed to identify and resolve issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate a sewing machine working with industrial garments
  • Read orders to ensure garment is being completed to order specifications
  • Apply reflective tape in correct positions based on order specifications
  • Check work after completion of each item to ensure it meets standards of quality
  • Maintain the cleanliness and maintenance of work area and equipment
  • Effectively communicate with others to meet deadlines
  • Additional tasks as directed by Production Supervisor/Manager
  • Department needs require you to be cross-trained in other positions
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Problem solving skills with the ability to look for root causes and implementable, workable solutions
  • Ability to pay extreme attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment while maintaining accuracy to produce high quality work
  • Comply with safety policies to ensure safe work environment
  • Superior hand/eye coordination and attention to details
  • Efficiency and speed while maintaining strict quality standards
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and participate as an independent contributor with little supervision or as an active team member depending on the situation and needs
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as cross-functionally
