Summary

The function of this position is to provide supervision of and assistance to participants in the Adult Day Care Program. The major focus of the position is to maintain the participants' safety, well-being, dignity and general overall involvement in day-to-day activities, as well as encourage and promote independent living skills. Assist the Activities Facilitator in person-centered planning and implementing recreational, social and therapeutic activities, in accordance with program mission.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist staff in following through with person-centered programming for the participants and assessing program needs.
  • Assist in providing appropriate self-help skills, as needed.
  • Assist in transportation, bathroom and lunch transitions.
  • Assist in ordering participants meals: maintain special diet/needs listing.
  • Assist with maintenance of meal temperature chart and log.
  • Assist with preparation, service and cleanup of lunch, am/pm snacks.
  • Assist in general cleaning of activity/program areas (e.g.: sanitizing tables, taking out trash, cleaning utensils and other duties as needed).
  • Assist Activities Facilitator in providing appropriate social, recreational, and therapeutic activities for participants.
  • Assist with maintenance of daily attendance and van rosters to assure all elements are completed.
  • Assist in scheduling transportation
  • Maintain safe and secure physical environment for participants.
  • Maintain all rules and regulations regarding confidentiality and privacy of participants and family.
  • Attend all workshops, staff meetings and In-Service training as required by the State and the program. Assist in bathing/shower of participants.
  • Perform all Child and Adult Care Food Program duties that are assigned. Comply with all Child and Adult Food Program standards.
  • Comply with all Agency policies, procedures and safety standards throughout work areas and maintain same to meet CARF, Department of Labor and other regulatory standards.

Education Requirements

State tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) required as well as a High School Diploma or a GED.

Experience Requirements

Minimum two (2) years' experience working with physically and/or mentally impaired adults.

  • Ability to maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record acceptable to GESMV's liability insurance provider.

  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  • Ability to pass random drug screenings.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to speak effectively with participants, caregivers and the general public.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with daily operational challenges with a calm demeanor.
