Store Clerk & Sorting Room Worker

Salary Range $10.00 Job Shift Day Education Level High School Diploma/GED Category Store

About This Opportunity

Schedule/Hours: Monday – Saturday 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM (29 hours per week)

This position is responsible for:

Receives, sorts, prices, and prepares donated items for display in the store; determines suitability and pricing of items based on established standards; assists in maintaining the orderliness and cleanliness of the store and sorting room area; assists store customers in donating, selecting, and purchasing store items; operates and maintains a cash register; responds to customer questions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive, inspect, sort, and categorize donated items (clothing, shoes, housewares, etc.)
  • Price and tag items based on established guidelines
  • Hang and rack clothes, box items, and maintain inventory flow
  • Operate cash register, handle sales, count change, issue receipts
  • Prepare purchased items for bagging and maintain register accuracy
  • Answer the phone and provide store information
  • Maintain tidy appearance of the store and sorting room
  • Clean display shelves, floors, mirrors, and windows
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Continuous walking, standing, stooping, and bending
  • Able to work in varying store/warehouse conditions

What We Are Looking For In You
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred AND
  • One year of experience in a retail or warehouse setting preferred
  • Ability to operate a cash register and perform basic math
  • Good communication skills and a customer-service mindset OR
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
