Store Manager Trainee

Store Manager – Dollar Tree Job Summary The Store Manager is responsible for the overall operation, profitability, and performance of the store. This position ensures exceptional customer service, maintains operational standards, manages store associates, and drives sales while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized shopping environment. The Store Manager is expected to work a minimum of 48 hours per week, including weekends, holidays, and closing at least one evening per week based on business needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to assistant managers and store associates. • Recruit, interview, hire, train, schedule, and evaluate store team members. • Ensure excellent customer service by resolving customer concerns professionally and promptly. • Meet or exceed sales, payroll, shrink, and profitability goals. • Maintain compliance with Dollar Tree policies, procedures, and safety standards. • Oversee daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures. • Work a minimum of 48 hours per week, with flexibility to work additional hours as needed to support business operations. • Close the store at least one night per week and provide leadership during evening operations. • Prepare work schedules that align with payroll budgets and business demands. • Monitor inventory levels and ensure timely stocking and merchandising of products. • Manage freight processing and ensure merchandise is displayed according to company planograms and promotional standards. • Conduct inventory counts, audits, and loss prevention activities to minimize shrink. • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe sales floor, stockroom, and exterior of the store. • Operate and oversee cash handling procedures, including deposits, register accountability, and safe management. • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment and safety regulations. • Address employee performance issues through coaching, documentation, and corrective action when necessary. • Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and employee development. • Respond to emergencies, operational issues, and staffing needs as they arise. Work Schedule • Minimum of 48 hours per week. • Flexible availability, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. • Required to close the store at least one night each week. • Additional hours may be required during peak business periods, holidays, inventory, staffing shortages, or to meet operational needs. Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent required. • Previous retail management experience preferred. • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced retail environment. • Basic computer proficiency and ability to use retail management systems. • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Physical Requirements • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. • Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds. • Bend, stoop, kneel, climb ladders, and reach overhead. • Perform repetitive motions associated with stocking shelves and operating a cash register. • Ability to work in varying temperatures within stockrooms and receiving areas. The Store Manager is expected to lead by example, maintain high operational standards, and ensure the store operates efficiently while delivering an outstanding shopping experience for our customers.
