Cheese Plus seeks a Store Supervisor for our diverse and highly successful specialty food store. This role is a member of our leadership team who are responsible for all key-holder store operations including overseeing store opening and closing duties, food production, customer service, store merchandising, team development, training and discipline, product purchasing, cash handling, physical plant maintenance, sanitation, and more.
The Store Supervisor is involved in all aspects of running the business with many unique and diverse responsibilities including purchasing and interacting with our vendors, scheduling and training staff, working all departments and areas of the store including the deli, coffee, cheese, and charcuterie service areas, cashiering, receiving and stocking products, maintaining proper inventory, troubleshooting physical plant issues that may arise, and so much more. Cheese Plus is San Francisco s premier cheese, wine and specialty food store with 21 years of continued growth. This is a great opportunity to work alongside an active owner/general manager with 40+ years of experience in the retail grocery and food serviced industries.
Cheese Plus offers medical and retirement benefits, generous paid time off, store purchase discount, tip sharing, and more! This is a full-time hourly position with eligibility for overtime pay. The hours will include a variety of shifts, typically no earlier than 7 AM or later than 8:30 PM. Weekend shifts are required for maximum exposure to customers and staff.
Responsibilities for this key position include:
- Maintain storewide standards
- Meet and exceed sales goals
- Train, motivate and develop staff
- Troubleshoot and execute well-reasoned, timely decisions
- Daily floor supervision
- Lead cashiering and cash balance
- Maintain physical plant safety and security
- Maintain proper sanitation and food handling procedures
- Product Merchandising
- All aspects of customer service on the sales floor
- Daily, direct staffing in all areas of the store including prepared foods, cheese and charcuterie, specialty grocery, wine and beer, point of sale, and other areas of the store
Qualifications: If you have the following experience and capabilities, apply now to provide leadership to a winning team:
- Passion for food and customer service
- Computer skills including Excel and Word. Knowledge of POS and scale file maintenance a plus
- Good organizational skills with paper, products, and space
- Time management, multi-tasking, and follow-through skills
- Excellent English communications skills, including proper phone, email and direct communication language and etiquette
- Desire to serve/work with others to create and enhance a positive and efficient goal directed workplace
- A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to use common-sense good judgment, while collaborating positively in a hands-on small team environment
- Good basic math skills (add and subtract accurately without paper or calculator)
- Must be willing and available to work flexible work schedules, to meet the changing requirements during store hours
- Must have the ability to perform all physical and mental requirements of the position, to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, including, but not limited to: lifting 40+ lbs. of product on a regular basis; working in and out of walk-in refrigerators; working safely with cleaning chemicals and kitchen equipment; climbing stairs and walking/standing throughout the majority of the workday; occasionally stooping or kneeling; typing on a computer keyboard; reaching with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to apply common sense, with the understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form is required.
- Must be able to demonstrate the ability to interact well with others; deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations; make sound decisions; provide partnership to employees from diverse backgrounds in a dynamic and sometimes stressful work environment while maintaining positive working relationships in a small team environment
