Responsibilities:
  • Prepare complex watershed models for both public and private clients
  • Perform a detailed evaluation of H&H modeling approach & methodology and assess the validity and reasonableness of the results
  • Calibrate and validate existing conditions H&H models
  • Identify alternative solutions for floodplain management
  • Perform vulnerability assessment on waterways and flood prone areas
  • Participate in developing a flood protection level of service in upland, coastal and transition zones
  • Prepare Watershed Master Plan and other H&H reports
  • Obtain Environmental Resource Permits through State of Florida Water Management Districts (WMD) and/or the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP)
  • Participate in the preparation of proposals; include writing the scope & approach to project, and estimating cost for services.
  • Participate as a speaker in an oral presentation/interview to procure an H&H contract
  • Manage and mentor staff
Qualifications:

Skills of Interest:  The selected candidate must be a motivated leader willing to expand their skillset, grow client relationships, and build resumes for themselves and their staff

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering
  • Florida PE required; Certified Floodplain Manager desired
  • Must have 8+ years of experience
  • Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling
  • Knowledge with Stormwise (fka ICPR), HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, EPA SWMM or equivalent software
  • Ability to process/analyze results and prepare technical documentation
  • Strong analytical skills and creative problem solving skills
  • A team player
  • Project management and employee management skills
