DESCRIPTION
We are currently looking for a highly experienced results-oriented Strategic Account Manager, Utilities & Energy to join our Energy Channel team, as part of a program intended to drive results through awareness and selling activities of Google Nest thermostats and energy services within the utility sector. Growth of Google Nest products and energy services has a positive environmental impact and has a direct relationship to improving customer adoption of clean energy technologies.
The Strategic Account Manager will be responsible for driving field sales of Google Nest Products and energy services with customers in the Energy channel/industry. The Strategic Account Manager will find new upside programs and sales opportunities we can support through cultivating relationships with utilities and program implementers.
Success will be measured on Google Nest product and energy services sales, identified through a pipeline of opportunities delivered.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead efforts to drive awareness and sales of Google Nest thermostats and energy services within the energy channel, working closely with the Renew Home team and internal Google team members and stakeholders.
Serve as the principal ambassador for Google in the energy sector. Champion industry thought leadership and elevate market presence through strategic conference attendance, panel participation, speaking engagements, and potential media exposure in close coordination with our partners.
Maintain a highly visible presence in driving an impactful sales process. Develop high impact growth opportunities, analyze partnership effectiveness and optimize growth, and drive thought leadership to create new opportunities to execute customer strategies for increasing revenue.
Drive awareness and sales of Google Nest thermostats and energy services within the energy channel, working closely with the Renew Home team.
Develop and cultivate relationships at all levels of the energy sector, partnering with decision makers and key stakeholders.
Collaborate with internal marketing, and utility partners, to develop and implement strategies for optimizing Google Nest thermostat visibility, customer education, and conversion rates on utility marketplaces. This could include advising on effective rebate strategies, promotional campaigns, and content.
Collaborate with internal team stakeholders, provide guidance and ensure consistency in day-to-day activities of the field sales team.
Proactively hunt and generate leads with utility companies and program implementers, developing and growing an opportunity pipeline within the assigned geographical area.
Identify and unlock key growth opportunities to scale demand-side management programs.
Analyze partnership effectiveness and help to optimize growth, drive thought leadership to increase revenue. Understand, prioritize and address a partner's strategic goals, and promote their needs internally ensuring full cross-functional stakeholder awareness and understanding.
Track and report key performance metrics (e.g., sales forecasts, pipeline health, partnership ROI) to ensure the team is consistently on track to exceed targets.

QUALIFICATIONS
10+ years of relevant experience (e.g., energy sector, sales, program management, business development, etc.).
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
Experience in the demand-side management industry (with load management programs, distributed energy technologies or similar), with a solid understanding of the business needs of energy partners.
Being able to connect market knowledge and channel experience to create large, innovative, net new opportunities.
Experience owning and delivering sales quotas, relationship management and reaching strategic goals.
Familiarity with e-commerce principles and online marketplace dynamics. Experience influencing online sales strategies is an advantage.
Strong commercial skills or deal-making experience, or business management experience; demonstrating autonomous leadership.
Excellent interpersonal skills to working closely with leaders, team members and clients.
Excellent judgment, effective problem-resolution skills, and the ability to balance multiple demands.
Proven ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining the highest level of professionalism and integrity.
Experience with CRM platforms and Google Suite of software applications.
Ability to travel +/- 50% of the time.
