Are you passionate about the intersection of cloud computing, satellite communications, generative AI, and edge computing for the Department of War? Do you have a deep understanding of the DoW mission and the ability to communicate complex technical and strategic concepts to the most senior leaders across the defense enterprise? If so, Amazon Web Services (AWS) wants to talk to you.

AWS is seeking a Strategic Business Development Account Manager to lead engagement with the 4th Estate Defense Agencies. At AWS, customer obsession is in our DNA. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to our customers, partnering with AWS sales, business development, and solutions architecture teams to deliver transformative cloud capabilities to the 4th Estate. This role also offers the opportunity to shape AWS"s product roadmap by driving new requirements and capabilities into our expansive portfolio of services.

This business development effort addresses a critical gap across federal agencies today-advising senior agency leaders on business and technical strategies that accelerate migration away from on-premises, hybrid, and private cloud environments. Supported by a world-class team of AWS Solutions Architects, service teams, and senior engineers, you will partner with Federal Executives to develop strategies that enhance Department of War capabilities, accelerate modernization, and promote cloud-native solutions across the 4th Estate Defense Agencies.

This position requires that the candidate selected be a US citizen and currently possess and maintain an active Top Secret/SCI security clearance.

  • Engage directly with DoW CIO and senior leaders at 4th Estate Agencies on internal and external IT modernization strategies
  • Define and execute a strategic market development plan that identifies cross-organizational opportunities in partnership with key internal stakeholders (e.g., sales teams, service teams, marketing, partner team, legal, support)
  • Define and size the total addressable opportunity across the DoW customer space; identify and engage key customers, Independent Software Vendors (ISVs), and System Integrators (SIs)
  • Build and support the business development pipeline by engaging with key prospects and industry partners
  • Understand the technical requirements of our customers and work closely with internal development teams to guide the direction of AWS product offerings
  • Present business reviews to AWS senior management regarding progress, roadblocks, and strategic recommendations for expanding market reach
  • Manage a high volume of engagements and customer interactions in the fast-paced cloud computing market

So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
