    Minimum qualifications:

    • Bachelors degree or equivalent practical experience.

    • 10 years of experience leading negotiations or business development.

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Experience in clean energy policy and regulations within the U.S. Central region (including Iowa), relating to electric utilities and rate design.
    • Knowledge of key stakeholders, issues, and market trends within Iowa and the Midcontinent Independent System Operator footprint.
    • Success in driving desired outcomes in energy regulatory and legislative arenas across the U.S. Central region and within large stakeholder coalitions.
    • Ability to solve multi-stakeholder challenges and thrive in ambiguity, with robust executive presence, relationship-building, and communication skills.

    As a Strategic Negotiator for Energy Market Development, you will be at the forefront of Googles ambitious infrastructure expansion and clean energy goals in the U.S. Central region. Focusing closely on Iowa and the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) footprint, you will lead complex energy supply negotiations and shape regional regulatory policies. You will work cross-functionally to develop innovative market solutions that guarantee reliable, cost-effective, and carbon-free power for our rapidly growing data center portfolio. In this role, you will act as a key advocate for Google, partnering directly with utilities, policymakers, and industry coalitions to drive grid reliability and structural market advancements.

    Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

    US: $176000 - $256000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

    Responsibilities

    • Lead strategic evaluations of regulatory and policy environments in the U.S. Central region (focusing on MISO and Iowa), monitoring industry trends and tariffs to assess risks and opportunities for Google's data center portfolio.
    • Develop energy market solutions for Google's supply needs in the Central U.S., designing engagement strategies before the Iowa Utilities Commission and MISO.
    • Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., Global Infrastructure, Public Policy) to develop regional energy positions, communicating our infrastructure, grid protection, and carbon-reduction goals.
    • Lead energy advocacy with MISO committees, trade associations, and local allies to advance Google's clean energy, grid reliability, and strategic interests.
    • Drive energy supply negotiations in Iowa and the broader U.S. Central region, working closely with electric utilities.
