    About the job

Googles infrastructure needs go far beyond server computers. As Googles products and services scale the globe, the Strategic Negotiation team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure for Googles future -- everything from underwater cables to physical data center space. As a Strategic Negotiator, you combine your deep market knowledge of a given sector with tech industry savvy to negotiate cost-effective solutions to support Googles infrastructure growth. Youll work with specific project teams on negotiating deals, managing vendor and partner relationships and presenting deal recommendations to our Tech leadership. Your successful negotiations have the potential to save Google millions of dollars in operating costs and impact every part of the business.

The Strategic Negotiator for Energy Market Development (MISO Lead) serves as the critical link between Google's infrastructure growth and external energy regulations. This role leads Googles advocacy in the MISO region, directly influencing market design, interconnection rules, and reliability frameworks to protect our data center portfolio.

Working cross-functionally, this negotiator translates corporate decarbonization goals into concrete market positions and advocates for them before Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) leadership and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). By monitoring wholesale market trends and large-load tariffs, this individual secures cost-effective energy solutions and operational flexibility. Additionally, the role involves building powerful advocacy coalitions with regional partners and trade associations to advocate favorable energy policies and advance Googles long-term sustainability objectives.
