    Minimum qualifications:

    • Bachelors degree or equivalent practical experience.

    • 4 years of experience managing projects or supporting the planning and development of business agreements.

    Preferred qualifications:

    • 5 years of experience in network asset negotiations and planning, including expertise in dark fiber, bandwidth services, layer 3 interconnect and data centers.
    • Experience in performing data-driven network availability and resiliency analysis.
    • Ability to negotiate complex agreements with vendors, partners and suppliers.
    • Ability to connect with senior level industry executives to develop strategic relationships/initiatives.
    • Strong financial skills including network present value calculations, agreement structuring, and return on investment analysis.
    • Willing to travel as appropriate, approximately 25% of the time.

    Googles infrastructure needs go far beyond server computers. As Googles products and services scale the globe, the Strategic Negotiation team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure for Googles future -- everything from underwater cables to physical data center space. As a Strategic Negotiator, you combine your deep market knowledge of a given sector with tech industry savvy to negotiate cost-effective solutions to support Googles infrastructure growth. Youll work with specific project teams on negotiating deals, managing vendor and partner relationships and presenting deal recommendations to our Tech leadership. Your successful negotiations have the potential to save Google millions of dollars in operating costs and impact every part of the business.

    As a Strategic Negotiator, you will combine your market knowledge and tech industry savvy to secure infrastructure for Googles future. You will leverage your management skills to optimize operating costs and support Googles growth. Additionally, you will lead special projects, manage vendor relationships, and present recommendations to Google leadership.

    The North America teams mission is to secure network infrastructure, including dark fiber, wavelengths, and colocation for Googles network, and to strategically grow the peering/interconnect relationships that help deliver content and products to our customers. We deliver these solutions through negotiations and acquisitions of network infrastructure and assets that meet the needs of our business. Strategic Negotiators have commercial responsibility in managing the relationships with our external partners, and for interfacing with the internal teams in order to deliver solutions.

    Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

    US: $126000 - $180000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

    Responsibilities

    • Research and understand market forces in the network infrastructure industry and incorporate these signals into acquisition strategies and new market entry.

    • Coordinate with global planning terms to develop strategic roadmaps that guide long-term asset acquisition strategies.

    • Leverage experience in colocation and real estate knowledge to acquire colocation space for network, peering and edge requirements.

    • Identify, evaluate and acquire metro and long haul dark fiber assets, design and build a new infrastructure solution through joint projects or independently. Negotiate and implement commercial frameworks that allow for predictable, efficient delivery of assets to meet Googles portfolio of products and services.

    • Develop long-term relationships with key commercial partners including telecommunications companies, network carriers and colocation operators for the purposes of managing our strategies of asset acquisition, deep edge-network penetration, and Cloud partnerships.
