Strategic Program / Project Manager
Pay Range: $90/hour to $110/hour
Job Summary
The Strategic Program / Project Manager supports the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) and serves as an execution partner to executive leadership for large-scale, high-visibility initiatives. This role is responsible for translating strategic priorities into structured program execution across complex, cross-functional environments.
This position leads enterprise programs including IT initiatives, system integrations, infrastructure investments, and transformation efforts. The role requires strong governance, financial oversight, vendor management, and executive-level communication to ensure successful delivery of strategic objectives.
Key ResponsibilitiesProgram & Project Execution- Lead day-to-day execution of large-scale, multi-workstream programs sponsored by executive or board-level stakeholders
- Translate strategic objectives into detailed project plans, milestones, deliverables, and timelines
- Ensure alignment across multiple initiatives and workstreams
Governance & Risk Management- Establish and manage program governance frameworks, including risks, issues, dependencies, and escalation paths
- Ensure adherence to EPMO standards, methodologies, and best practices
- Monitor program health and proactively mitigate risks
Financial Management- Manage program financials including ROM (Rough Order of Magnitude), budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis
- Track capital expenditures and ensure alignment with financial objectives
- Provide financial insights and reporting to executive stakeholders
Executive Communication & Reporting- Develop executive-level status reports, dashboards, KPIs, and briefing materials
- Present program updates to senior leadership and board stakeholders
- Maintain clear, consistent communication on progress, risks, and outcomes
Vendor & Stakeholder Management- Coordinate and oversee third-party vendors, consultants, and system integrators
- Ensure delivery aligns with scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration across IT, clinical, operations, and finance teams
Change Management & Transformation- Support organizational change management, readiness, and user adoption initiatives
- Drive alignment and engagement across impacted business units
- Contribute to successful implementation of enterprise transformation programs
Required Qualifications- Bachelors degree in Business, Information Technology, Healthcare Administration, or related field
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (required)
- 7+ years of experience in program or project management for large-scale, complex initiatives
- Experience working within an EPMO or structured program governance environment
- Proven ability to manage budgets, financial tracking, and capital programs
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and executive presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications- Experience in healthcare systems, academic medical centers, or regulated environments
- Knowledge of EPMO frameworks, governance models, and KPI-driven reporting
- Experience supporting mergers and acquisitions (M&A), system integrations, or enterprise transformations
- Experience managing IT programs, infrastructure projects, or digital transformation initiatives
- Ability to operate independently, manage ambiguity, and drive results in fast-paced environments
