Client Overview:
Our client is a highly respected and mission-driven institution with a large operational environment. They are now looking for a Strategic Sourcing and Contracts Specialist.

Salary/Hourly Rate:
$42/hr - $45/hr

Position Overview:
The Strategic Sourcing and Contracts Specialist will support the Strategic Procurement and Contracts team during an extended leave coverage assignment. This role will assist with sourcing events from initiation through contract execution and post-award management while partnering with internal stakeholders to ensure procurement activities are handled accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with organizational policies. This role is a strong fit for someone who enjoys balancing process, strategy, and relationship management. The right candidate will be curious, thoughtful, and confident working with different stakeholders while helping keep sourcing and contract activity moving forward in a compliant and organized way.

Responsibilities of the Strategic Sourcing and Contracts Specialist:
  • Manage and facilitate assigned sourcing events from initiation through award, contract development, negotiation, execution, and post-award contract management.
  • Use e-sourcing, project management, and contract lifecycle management systems to support procurement workflows and documentation.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, departmental representatives, and review committee members to develop requirements, evaluation criteria, and supplier selection processes.
  • Conduct market research, supplier research, and spend analysis to support sourcing decisions.
  • Analyze proposals, bids, and supplier responses to provide guidance on procurement process, ethics, supplier selection, and evaluation criteria.
  • Support supplier and contract transition activities, helping maintain continuity of service when moving from one supplier to another.
  • Ensure applicable contractual requirements, documentation standards, and procurement policies are followed.
  • Review and approve purchase requisitions in Workday to verify documentation, policy compliance, and appropriateness of purchase.
  • Attend meetings related to assigned sourcing projects, procurement initiatives, and departmental priorities.
  • Support additional procurement-related projects and administrative tasks as needed.
Required Experience/Skills for the Strategic Sourcing and Contracts Specialist:
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, contracts, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree required, or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • Hands-on experience with RFPs, bid processes, supplier evaluation, and contract negotiation.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple sourcing events and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, collaborative, and diplomatic.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Strategic Sourcing and Contracts Specialist:
  • Experience reviewing purchase requisitions, procurement documentation, or policy-driven purchasing processes preferred.
  • Experience with Workday, automated procurement systems, contract management systems, or database software is a plus.
  • Prior experience in a nonprofit, public sector, or complex institutional environment is preferred but not required.
