Strategic Sourcing / Category Manager

Seeking an experienced Strategic Sourcing & Category Manager

In this role, you will be responsible for managing materials procurement life cycle including supplier selection, negotiation of contracts, purchase order management, capacity scale-up, and supplier performance. The successful candidate will be responsible for optimizing and scaling planning and purchasing processes for new product introduction and managing critical outsourcing activities. You must be able to think strategically, manage relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders, and deliver results in a timely and cost-effective manner. The ideal candidate will have an engineering background to work in co-development manner with Engineering, Manufacturing, quality and vendors.

You are responsible for managing the development and implementation of procurement sourcing strategies end to end which will include: supplier management, due diligence and selection, managing cost of operations within a defined category of the supply chain; establishing standard costs; developing and executing cost reduction strategies; analyzing market indices and negotiating pricing based on relevant cost drivers; forecasting cost impacts; managing and leading all commercial negotiations with suppliers; should cost modeling and problem solving supply issues and recommending actions. Manages and fosters relationships with cross-functional departments to ensure collaborative, actionable interactions.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop, implement, and manage procurement strategies, tools, and plans that align with the company's goals and objectives, while maintaining sustained supply in a highly dynamic environment
  • Direct activities of all functions involved in planning and purchasing of materials and capital equipment; partner with internal teams on inventory management of acquired elements.
  • Manage the ECO / MCO change Order, together with product life cycle and engineering; ensure process is articulated effectively for vendors and become integrated with Engineering and Manufacturing in a co-development environment setting.
  • Experience and knowledge of assisting with a large matrix of sourcing and category management initiatives within the mechanical and electrical and electronics domain at a global level, prioritizing tasks efficiently, and communicating complex matters to all levels of the business effectively.
  • Develop & execute strategic agreements (NDA/JDA/MSA) alongside legal counsel that support business initiatives and expectations taking into account fixed and variable costs, lead-times, schedules, manufacturing capacities, and IP protection.
  • Source, develop, qualify and maintain vendor relationships and associated negotiated agreements in collaboration with the technical teams and in compliance with policies and controls, ensuring timely delivery of quality goods and services. Use best practices such as careful requirements definition to develop and execute comprehensive RFPs, RFIs
  • Oversees the input, management, and update of master data into SAP/Jaggaer supplier master data for new product launch platforms.
  • Reporting & analysis skills, with high degree of aptitude in MS Suite
  • Strong negotiation skills with ability to reduce costs with sole and single source suppliers, both as the leader of a cross-functional negotiation team or independently
  • Strategize the purchase order process and ensure proper tracking and documentation of all procurement activities including monitoring core procurement systems
  • Manage and develop best practice sourcing strategies within the global supplier landscape to include new suppliers as well as evaluation of current supply base to support new product business line.
  • Using market knowledge to mitigate supply chain risks; proactively seek information to predict, understand, and analyze risks and develop appropriate strategies
  • Identify and implement Continuous Improvement opportunities such as cost reductions, quality improvements, and supplier consolidations/reductions
  • Optimize current procurement and related systems to deliver operational efficiencies including development and implementation of relevant key performance indicators and conduct regular business reviews with vendors.
  • Conduct regular business reviews to include health and risk assessment.
  • Ensure strategy synergy and strategic alignment with global PSM leadership and cluster managers.
  • Work within cross functional project team to deliver best in class suppliers and development partners for project success.
  • Leads and participates in multi-functional teams for design, cost reduction and supply continuity improvement.
  • Reinforce all safety and environmental policies.
  • Safeguarding reliability/stability of supply and required quality standards in all procurement.
  • Owning decision-making and implementation and responsibility regarding approved sourcing strategies.
  • Introduce "best practices" within procurement activities to increase efficiencies in current processes.
  • Manage coordination of interfaces with internal clients regarding sourcing categories and risk management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by leadership to meet business needs

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE :

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering is required (or 5 years of NPI sourcing experience).
  • Master of Business Administration or equivalent advanced degree a plus
  • C.P.M, CPSM, CPSD, or equivalent procurement certification is a plus .
  • Project Management Certification is a plus
  • 10+ years of procurement or strategic sourcing experience within the elevator industry preferred, or alternatively automotive, aerospace, or consumer goods manufacturing industry is required.
  • Superior Project management skills, attention to detail, understanding business processes, and communication are important for this role.
  • Superior ability to independently plan, coordinate, and execute work with autonomy, and communicate effectively progress to senior leaders and subordinates through excellent presentation skills. Superior understanding of end-to-end supply chain business processes (Demand and Supply Planning, Inventory Management, Lifecycle Management)
  • Well-versed in TCO analysis to ensure data-driven analytics tied to component and supplier selection, in a product-based ecosystem.
  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills; Exceptional communications skills required.
  • Advocate on behalf of the PSM organization function with business units and operational partners to ensure support for core business objectives.
  • Demonstrates strong aptitude for managing and motivating others and building team unity
  • Results oriented with strong sense of urgency to mitigate risk and close issues
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects/resources simultaneously.
  • High standard of ethics and professionalism; Entrepreneurial spirit and vision
  • Proven ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% annually.
