Job Summary
With minimal direct supervision, leads assigned crew in carrying out daily activities; performs work typically assigned to subordinates, as necessary. Interfaces most frequently with other water/wastewater department personnel; occasionally interfaces with other City departments and external public. Leads the activities of an assigned Public Works crew to carry out the work required in maintaining and repairing the City's streets, grounds and ROW. Sound working knowledge of street repair, to include asphalt, crack sealing, and pothole repair.

Job Qualifications
Formal Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Relatable Work Experience: One (1) year of experience in placing hot mix with paver.
Training, Licenses, and Certifications: Valid Texas driver license.
Preferred Qualifications: Willing to learn crack sealing operations.
Disclaimer: Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is define as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed & Environmental Factors and Other Physical Requirements
Ability to work with direct minimum supervision and to follow verbal and written directions.
Sound working knowledge related to the construction, operation, and maintenance of public works infrastructures.
Ability to motivate and lead others in performing job duties.
Ability to learn technical and scientific concepts and procedures related to work requirements.
Sound mechanical skills, with ability to repair machinery and equipment.
Good communication (verbal and written) skills.
Ability to effectively and safely operate light trucks, dump trucks, backhoe, tractor with shredder or auger, lawn tractors, trencher, SCBAs, weed eaters, trailers, shop tools, and various hand tools.
Skill in utilizing a personal computer, associated software programs, including Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to establish and maintain professionally effective relationships with external public/vendors, internal management and non-management employees, and City and other government officials.
Ability to develop, implement, and administer goals, objectives, and procedures for providing effective and efficient services for the City.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, as well as strong time and task management skills.
Subject to sitting and standing to perform essential functions in an outdoor environment; extreme weather conditions.
Visual acuity, speech, and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate office equipment.
Regularly scheduled for 5-day, 40-hour workweek, Monday through Friday; overtime occasionally required; on-call evenings and weekends.
Frequent exposure to paints and related chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, laboratory chemicals, wastewater and sludge.
Lifting up to 100 lbs.
