Description

Position Summary: The Streets Laborer is responsible for performing a variety of unskilled to semi-skilled laborer work related to roadway, stormwater, and landscaping maintenance. This role involves tasks that may be routine and repetitive in nature, often requiring little or no supervision. The emphasis of this work is on the ability to perform various tasks for extended periods common to street maintenance work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform general laborer tasks related to street maintenance, stormwater management, and landscaping.
• Assist in repairing and maintaining streets, sidewalks, curbs, and storm drainage systems.
• Participate in weed control, landscaping, and general grounds maintenance activities.
• Operate hand and power tools used in street maintenance and construction.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment and tools.
• Assist with traffic control during street maintenance and construction projects.
• Complete assigned tasks efficiently and in accordance with safety guidelines.
• Work effectively as part of a team to achieve division goals.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED certificate.
• 0 to 1 year of related work experience.
• Valid Class D New Mexico Driver's License.

Skills and Abilities:

• Physical stamina and the ability to perform labor-intensive tasks for extended periods.
• Basic knowledge of common hand and power tools used in street maintenance.
• Ability to follow safety protocols and work effectively in a team.
• Willingness to learn and take on new tasks as assigned.

Strong work ethic and reliability.

Working Conditions:

• This role primarily involves outdoor work in various weather conditions.
• Physical demands may include bending, lifting, and extended periods of standing or walking.
