Summary
Responsible for a comprehensive program design, implementation and supervision of athletes/clients of various ages and skill levels. Provide instruction and demonstration of correct Olympic lifting technique, along with other strength, speed development, agility and plyometric exercises while applying them in a periodized framework. Sanford Health Athletic Readiness Program (SHARP)SHARP is an innovative and injury-specific program for athletes recovering from an injury or surgery. It is coordinated and collaborative care between the Sanford Sports SHARP staff and physical therapy. This program takes an athlete from physical therapy to fully return to performance. SHARP integrates the philosophies of functional rehabilitation with those of sports training. The result is a program which develops dynamic stability and provides for a safe return to sport specific activities.
BENEFITS OF THE RETURN TO PERFORMANCE PROGRAM
· Provides athletes, of any activity level, with an opportunity to work on functional rehabilitation and sport specific drills that will prepare them to return to performance.
· Returns athletes to their full motor potential. This is accomplished by rehabilitating the injury, re-training for sport specific skills and providing the necessary tools to maintain general fitness, strength, flexibility, and movement.
· Provides motivation needed to successfully adhere to rehabilitation protocols and achieve performance goals.
· Provides information on how to prevent re-injury.
Thorough understanding of the physiological basis of exercise and the ability to program/instruct according to the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and USA Weightlifting (USAW) guidelines. Ability to administer and interpret SCORE testing assessment for pre/post evaluation of athletic readiness. Complete SCORE testing report and deliver results to athlete/parents. Incorporate sport timing systems for all large group and team SCORE testing. Ability to administer and interpret results for submaximal cardiovascular and fitness assessments.Collaborate with appropriate Sanford departments as required; such as but not limited to, Sanford Sports Performance Lab, Sports Physical Therapy, Athletic Training, Ortho & Sports Medicine Physician groups, etc., to gather accurate and reliable athlete testing data for use in research. Work with Sanford Physical Therapy staff to incorporate SCORE pro biomechanical assessment results into individualized athlete performance programming.
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a field of exercise science, kinesiology, health, physical education,recreation or other closely related discipline is required. Master's degree in one of the identified bachelor's degree areas ispreferred.Highly desirable two or more years of experience in the strength and conditioning field at the high school, college,professional or private sector.Competency in Microsoft Office and basic computer skills is required.Possess a thorough understanding of the physiological basis of exercise and the ability to program/instruct according to the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and USA Weightlifting (USAW) guidelines.CPR/AED certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within six weeks of employment.CSCS Certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) is required within one year of date hired.Certification on one of the following areas is preferred at date of hire: Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA), USA Weightlifting, and/or American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).Sanford is an EEO/AA Employer M/F/Disability/Vet.
