Pay Grade Salary Hourly Pay Rate $30.00 dollars FLSA Job Summary/Basic Function

The Master Teacher will:

  • Oversee the continuing development of the Project.
  • Along with the Project Director supervise the WSU String Music Education majors who teach in the Project, and provide teaching modeling and mentorship to these teachers.
  • Model teaching strategies for the student teachers.
  • Coordinate, with the student teachers, the final semester concert in December and again in April.
  • Provide feedback on lesson plans written and implemented by the student teachers.
  • Observe student teachers and provide feedback on teaching effectiveness.
  • Work with the Project Director and the student teachers to effectively plan and implement recruiting efforts.
  • Approve music choices for the Philharmonic and Ogden Youth Orchestra, which are conducted by the Master Teacher and qualified student conductors.

Required Qualifications

The Master Teacher must hold a degree in Instrumental Music Education and be a string specialist.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in preparatory programs at University level required. Some experience in Piano playing or teaching. MMus preferred. Violinist, Cellist, Public School Teacher with Music Education Degree.

The conditions the worker will be subject to in this position. None. The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work).
