Together, we're making an impact around the world.Your OpportunityStantec has an immediate need for talented, team‑focused Structural Bridge Engineers/Inspectors with bridge design and inspection experience. As a Structural Engineer, you will have the opportunity to grow in design knowledge and responsibility, as well as qualify as a team leader for inspection and/or a Project Manager for design-related tasks.You will contribute to the design component of roadway and bridge projects throughout Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. Additionally, you will assist with bridge inspections, including writing and reviewing inspection reports.Your Key ResponsibilitiesThe majority of work will include bridge design and inspection projects for departments of transportation and municipalities in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia and may also include rail-related projects.Key design duties include preparation of design calculations, plans, CAD drafting, and construction cost estimates while assisting the project manager to develop special provisions and specifications for DOT and municipal clients.During construction, tasks will include the review of contractor submittals and preparing responses to requests for information under the guidance of a more senior engineer.Responsibilities include the evaluation of existing structures and development of load ratings.Preparing engineering reports and technical studies, and assisting on other projects, as needed, including participation in roadway and site civil design activities.Perform inspection of bridges at various levels along with preparing inspection reports.Capabilities and Credentials3+ years of bridge inspection experience. Bridge design experience a plus.Bridge Inspection and Bridge Design experience in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia is desired.Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting, engage in creative and critical thought, and effectively communicate ideas.Experience with AASHTO Bridge Design Specifications is preferred.Experience with MDOT SHA, MDTA, and VDOT design criteria and requirements is preferred.A working knowledge of MicroStation or AutoCAD is preferred.Bridge load rating experience preferred.Understanding of national and state bridge inspection methods, evaluations, and report preparation is required.Successful completion of FHWA/NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges training course is preferred.Ability to travel within the Maryland, Virginia, and District of Columbia area.Ability to climb ladders, and work at heights using various bridge inspection access equipment.Education and ExperienceBachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with structural emphasis. Master's degree is preferred.Professional Engineering license, or ability to obtain within 1 year is highly preferred.Inspection experience including large complex bridges and bridges with fracture critical members is preferred.Valid driver's license and good driving record is required.E.I.T. license is required.Position will work in an office setting and require field work.Pay RangeLocations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas: $85,000.00 – $123,300.00 AnnuallyPay TransparencyIn compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
