About the role
Express Employment Professionals is hiring an experienced Structural Concrete Finishing Specialist to support projects on the military bases at Camp Lejeune and Cherry Point in Havelock. You will travel between sites as needed and contribute to high-quality flatwork and related carpentry tasks alongside a skilled crew.
A day in the life
You start at 7:00am, Monday through Friday, reviewing the pour plan and safety notes. By mid-morning, you’re grading base, helping set forms, and placing concrete. As the slab cures, you edge, tool joints, and broom-finish to spec. You may also run a concrete saw unaided, assist senior finishers, and help remove or adjust forms before wrapping up at 4:00pm.
Key responsibilities
- Assist senior concrete finishers on flatwork and structural tasks
- Edge, tool joint, and broom-finish concrete with precision
- Rake and level concrete for straightedge personnel
- Operate a concrete saw independently
- Grade and level base for slabs
- Cut and remove concrete slab sections as directed
- Assist with forming and general carpentry tasks (carpentry knowledge preferred)
- Mix and pour concrete while maintaining quality standards
- Work effectively within a team
What you bring
- 3 to 5 years of cement and/or carpentry experience
- Self-starter who thrives in a team environment
- Ability to edge, tool joint, and broom-finish concrete without assistance
- Receives and follows direction well; strong work ethic
- Physically fit: bend, kneel, squat; lift a minimum of 35 lbs
- Comfort working in hot conditions
- Familiarity with construction sites and safety practices
Additional qualifications
- Must be able to travel to Camp Lejeune and Cherry Point in Havelock
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Collaborative mindset; willing to work as part of a project team
- Works independently and takes direction from a supervisor as needed
- Follows directions and completes tasks on time while meeting quality benchmarks
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds unassisted and carry boxes 50 pounds on most projects. Must be willing to stand for long periods of time bending, stooping, twisting, reaching overhead.
Background check requirement
Must have a valid driver’s license and able to meet military base background check requirements

7:00am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday only
