SUMMARY OF THIS ROLE

Highly skilled, licensed Professional Engineer having a minimum of 10 years of engineering

design experience in commercial roof replacement/repair, building envelope design, and/or

structural design. Senior Design Engineers will serve as Engineer of Record for projects, actively

driving in the design process from conception to completion.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Design Engineer will act as Engineer of Record for design projects involving

commercial roof replacement, building envelope, and structural designs.

• Work with the Forensic Engineering Team to develop scopes of work for projects.
• Perform site visits as required.
• Prepare and maintain schedules for design deliverables.
• Perform engineering design for large commercial roofing projects.
• Perform structural design for commercial structural projects.
• Prepare calculations per the provisions of codes such as ASCE-7, ACI, and AISC.
• Specify materials required for project work in accordance with applicable codes and

standards in CSI format.

• Develop drawing packages for bidding and construction.
• Manage and provide technical oversight of all phases of projects through design,

bidding, construction, and project closeout. Respond to RFIs, submittals, contractor

questions.

• Participate in project meetings and effectively communicate with all project participants

including clients, contractors, engineers, architects, and manufacturers.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage Designers and Drafters working on projects.
• Delegate drawing preparation work to drafters/designers. Establish milestones and

deadlines with these employees such that project schedule is maintained.

• Mentor Junior Engineers.
• CAD.
• 3D Modeling.
• Drone Operator.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in at least one state.
• Minimum 10 years experience. Experience in roof design and structural engineering

preferred.

• Expert-level knowledge of roof systems, structural engineering, project management

principles, and industry best practices.

• In-depth knowledge of the design, construction, and repair of roofing systems.
• Excellent proficiency in code interpretations and thorough knowledge of commonly

adopted building codes and standards.

• Proven track record of successfully delivering projects on time, within budget, and to

client satisfaction.

• Ability to effectively communicate with clients, coworkers, and contractors.
• Ability to multitask and be flexible regarding workload and assignments. Comfortable in

a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines.

• Possess a valid driver's license, be insurable, and safely operate a motor vehicle.
• Must be self-motivated and proactive with ability to exercise good judgement.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires certain physical requirements attendant to inspection of existing roof

systems and structural systems.

• Ability to travel to project sites including overnight travel.
• Successfully pass a criminal background check.
• Ability to lift and carry objects weighting up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to climb ladders of various heights.
• Ability to perform tasks on elevated surfaces.
• Ability to perform inspections in narrow, shallow, or confined spaces.
• Ability to work outside exposed to a variety of weather conditions.
