    Description

    Location: Ishpeming, MI


    Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opportunity for a Structural Engineer at our Tilden Mine facility in Ishpeming, MI. The primary responsibility of the Structural Engineer is to provide civil and structural engineering support to the Tilden Mine.


    Summary of Responsibilities:

    • Manage all aspects of civil and structural engineering projects such as cost estimates, material specifications, and design of structures, supports, and facilities.
    • Direct and coordinate work performed by engineering consultants, contractors, and bargaining unit employees to monitor progress and ensure conformity to engineering plans, specifications, and safety standards.
    • Provide civil and structural technical guidance and expertise to management, engineers, maintenance, and operating employees on a daily basis.
    • Inspect, analyze and determine the structural integrity of overhead cranes, building floors, conveyors, and roofs.
    • Design structural repairs for building structures and equipment supports that become damaged or deteriorated.
    • Conduct studies and prepare reports on project feasibility and cost projections.
    • Make recommendations for potential cost-savings projects.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelors of Science degree in civil or mechanical engineering, or equivalent.
    • 5 -7 years in management of civil and/or structural engineering projects.
    • Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and AutoCAD
    • Competent communication skills both oral & written.
    • Problem solving skills.
    • Sound knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.
    • Current driver’s license.
    • Passed FE exam.
    • Applicants for this posting must be currently legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master of Science degree in civil or mechanical engineering with a focus on structural engineering.
    • Work in mining or mineral processing operation desirable. Supervisory experience desirable.
