Structural Engineer - DUTIES: Identify and understand the technical requirements of high-risk projects and implement engineering principles to develop solutions. Identify, interpret, and apply appropriate design standards and codes; ensure compliance with contract documents. Preparation of engineering design calculations for bridge structures and walls, including but not limited to, prestressed concrete design, reinforced concrete design, steel design, seismic design, Finite Element Modeling and Analysis, Geotechnical design. Coordinate Structural Design development with Roadway, Hydraulic/Drainage, and Environmental Designers as well as Construction Department. Develop sketches, details, and drawings that are becoming part of the structural plan set of infrastructure projects. Ensure all work is performed in compliance with Kiewit and/or project-specific Quality Management plans. Investigate any as-built issues, provide solutions, and assist Construction in successful execution of the project.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field and any knowledge, coursework, internship, or experience to involve: (1) theoretical knowledge of structural engineering principles; (2) design of multiple structure or bridge types in concrete and steel, and knowledge of staged construction analysis; (3) knowledge of AASHTO LRFD, AISC, and ACI standards; and (4) apply complex structural engineering concepts to real-world projects and manage multiple work tasks in a timely and professional manner.
