Job DescriptionStructural Engineer, with limited supervision from Manager of Structural Engineering, will provide the technical, organizational, and communication skills to produce well‑designed and coordinated construction documents for structural systems.Primary ResponsibilitiesReview and/or establish project scope, structural budget, and design approach with the Manager of Structural Engineering, Project Manager and/or clientPerform as a project lead engineer for mid‑size projects, managing the production effort of staff assigned to project in terms of quality, budget, and scheduleKeep current with latest code publications and apply them in everyday analysis as applicableProduce innovative design solutions and give valuable engineering judgment to the teamFormulate, design, and/or conduct analysis of structural framing systems and perform necessary calculationsConduct field measuring and checking at construction site to verify existing conditionsReview of existing structures and determination of reinforcing as neededAbility to prepare construction documents e.g. drawings, details and specificationsCommunicate with other disciplines to produce well‑coordinated construction documents with basic understanding of Architectural details and MEP requirementsCoordinate team of engineers and assign tasks while maintaining budgetCommunicate scope changes to the Manager of Structural Engineering and Project ManagerMentor less experienced engineers and designersUse available structural computer programs to enhance productivity and verify results with manual checksPerform related duties as assignedEmployment QualificationsEducationBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering, or other related field required; Master's degree preferredProfessional Registration; S.E. preferredExperience10 years of related experience in the structural engineering fieldStrong working knowledge of wind and seismic designSkills and CompetenciesAnalysis: Risa, RAM, ETABS, and SAP2000 preferredDrafting: Revit and BluebeamHave an excellent work ethic and a desire to succeedGhafari Associates is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
