Our client, a structural engineering firm serving commercial, institutional, and residential clients across New England, is hiring a Structural Engineer to join their Boston office. This role involves the design and analysis of structural systems for new construction and renovation projects, working closely with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines from schematic design through construction administration.

The position requires hands-on experience with structural calculations, code compliance review, and construction document preparation. The firm's project portfolio spans mid-rise residential buildings, mixed-use developments, and institutional facilities throughout the greater Boston area.

This is a full-time, on-site position based in downtown Boston with regular site visits to active project locations.

Responsibilities

  • Design structural systems for new construction and renovation projects
  • Perform structural analysis and calculations using industry-standard software
  • Prepare construction documents, drawings, and specifications
  • Review shop drawings and respond to contractor RFIs
  • Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and quality
  • Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, and general contractors
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes and standards
  • Support permitting and plan review processes with local jurisdictions

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • 5 or more years of structural engineering experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 12 months
  • Proficiency with structural analysis software such as RISA, ETABS, or SAP2000
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD or Revit
  • Strong understanding of IBC and ASCE 7 code requirements
  • Experience with steel, concrete, wood, and masonry design
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
