Job Title: Structural Engineer

Job Description

Join our dynamic Water Resources Team as a Mid-Level or Sr-Level Structural Engineer. The role offers an exciting opportunity to improve infrastructure in our Detroit office while supporting projects across the country. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, works well with others, and possesses excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills. While the position can be based out of any of our offices, the preferred location is Detroit, with additional offices in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina. The role requires attendance at an office 2-3 days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis and design of heavy civil and underground structures, including concrete storage tanks, wastewater treatment facilities, tunnels, and more.
  • Provide technical planning, design, and construction support on various wet weather projects.
  • Design using materials such as reinforced concrete, pre-stressed concrete, steel, aluminum, masonry, and FRP.
  • Prepare engineering calculations and supporting analysis of alternatives.
  • Prepare structural construction plans and technical specifications.
  • Utilize design software to complete structural analysis.
  • Conduct research and development for projects.
  • Function as Task Manager to assist Project Manager.
  • Coordinate structural design with Sr Engineers and Project Managers.
  • Work with multi-discipline engineering teams.
  • Prepare design cost estimates.
  • Monitor task budget and progress.
  • Conduct on-site inspections as needed.
  • Prepare and review scope, budget, and schedule for project tasks.
  • Attend various meetings including pre-design, plan review, and pre-construction.
  • Assist with proposals, marketing, project reports, and technical presentations.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor"s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • EIT certification and ability to obtain PE within a year.
  • 3+ years of experience in structural engineering.
  • Foundation experience including mat foundations, driven piles, auger-cast piles, caissons, and soil/rock anchors.
  • Experience with ACI 350, ACI 318, AISC Steel Manual, and the International Building Code.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency in structural and foundation design software.
  • Excellent technical writing, organizational, and communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with soil and rock mechanics.
  • Experience in Water Resources department or projects.
  • PE license in Michigan, Ohio, Texas, Georgia, Florida, or any other state.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
