Role Overview
Our Aerospace Client is seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer III to join their Defense Capability Development team. In this role, you will apply your expertise to design, evaluate, and certify cutting-edge products ranging from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems to highly integrated aircraft and space exploration vehicles.
You will be responsible for examining complex metallic and composite structures throughout the entire product lifecycle, ensuring technical excellence from initial design to final certification.
Key Responsibilities- Design & Evaluation: Develop and analyze structural designs for air, ground, and orbital systems.
- Analysis: Perform comprehensive static and dynamic analyses to ensure structural integrity.
- Technical Documentation: Author detailed substantiation reports to document findings and certification compliance.
- Collaboration: Work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams to integrate structural solutions with electronic and mechanical systems.
- Full Lifecycle Support: Manage products from conceptual design through manufacturing and production processes.
Qualifications
Required:- Education: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience: Typically 6+ years of relevant professional experience in structural engineering.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) tools.
- Core Skills: Proven ability in Static and/or Dynamic Analysis and a deep understanding of core engineering principles.
Preferred Skills & Experience:- Simulation Tools: Experience with FEA software such as MSC Patran, Nastran, FEMAP, or ANSYS.
- Classical Methods: Ability to perform industry-standard hand calculations.
- Industry Background: Prior experience in the Aerospace and Defense sectors.
- Design Principles: Knowledge of parametric design, model-based definition, material/hardware selection, and weld analysis.
- Specialized Analysis: Familiarity with LS-DYNA3D or vibration analysis.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions- Environment: Primarily an office-based engineering environment with rare exposure to outdoor elements, fumes, or loud noises.
- Physical Demands: Frequent sitting, standing, and walking; frequent use of stairs. Requires manual dexterity for repetitive hand/arm motions (typing and computer use).
- Lifting: Rarely required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs.
