Why Basin Engineering

Most structural engineers spend years designing the same kind of building. At Basin you would work on structures most engineers never touch: platforms and support structures for the LNG and gas industry, custom precast concrete elements, water treatment plants, and industrial, commercial, and public works projects, often in the same month.

Basin is small enough that you work directly with the two founding principals and see your designs through from calculations to construction, and established enough to hold engineering licenses in more than two dozen states. Your work carries real responsibility, and the people running the firm see it every day.

About Basin Engineering & Surveying

Basin is headquartered in Metairie, in the New Orleans metro, with a second office in Vestavia Hills, Alabama. Led by founders Wesley Eustis and Daniel Bobeck, the firm provides structural engineering, civil site design, land surveying, public works, and drone services. Survey crews, project engineers, and CAD drafters are all in house, so the people you coordinate with are down the hall.

The role

You will design structural systems for industrial, commercial, and public infrastructure projects: elevated platforms, custom precast concrete elements, steel and concrete framing, foundations, and water and wastewater structures. That means analysis and calculations, drawings and specifications, coordination with our civil engineers, surveyors, and drafters, and construction support such as submittal reviews, RFIs, and site visits. As the engineer of record on your projects, you will seal your own work.

What we are looking for:

• A bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering
• A PE license, or one you can obtain in Louisiana by comity
• Five or more years designing steel and concrete structures
• Working knowledge of ACI, AISC, ASCE 7, and the IBC, and of structural analysis software such as RISA, SAP2000, or STAAD.Pro
• The ability to work in person at our Metairie office
