We welcome different backgrounds and skills that enrich our community and we promote a place where we can all be ourselves.Job DescriptionThe Structural Engineer position is part of the Industrial Crane and product engineering team, and your role will be the structural design and support of crane runway systems. The role will primarily involve engineering of crane runway systems and may include generating the detailed design drawings when needed. You are also expected to act as an engineering resource and provide expert support on structural topics during the quoting, selling, installation and commissioning phases.You will report to the Industrial Crane and Product Engineering Manager.You WillPerform engineering calculations to compute the stresses developed in a crane runway structure. Knowledge of static, dynamic, and fatigue failure theories based on a stress life approach is required to compute the allowable stresses according to applicable industry standards.Evaluate the static/dynamic strength and fatigue life of structural steel runway structures for the United States and Canada.Use RISA 3D, vendor software, KC-developed programs, and other in-house analytical tools to perform and present structural calculations of runway structures conforming to the specifications of AISC/ASCE/CSA/CMAA. The ability to perform calculations is necessary to validate a calculation using a secondary/independent method of analysis.Have knowledge of ASCE, IBC codes, and seismic conditions.Support customers and team members as an expert when troubleshooting issues that arise onsite during installation, commissioning, or the warranty period of a project.Occasionally support sales and offer support during the quotation phase of complex projects to provide guidance on design options during the quotation stage.Participate in continuous improvement efforts.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.Have an EIT certification, with plans or desire to obtain a PE license.3‑5 years of related industry experience.Knowledge of ASCE, IBC codes and seismic conditions.Knowledge of AISC/CSA and CMAA is considered an asset.Experience in both Microsoft Excel (can perform complex functions) and CAD programs.Experience with electric overhead traveling (EOT) cranes is an asset but not required.Additional InformationBenefits and PerksMedical Plan, Dental, Vision, 401(k) plan with company match from day one, identity theft protection, accident insurance, travel insurance, and more.Vacation: 2 weeks per year (pro‑rated for the first year depending on start date). 5‑12 years of service: 3 weeks. 13+ years of service: 4 weeks.Sick Leave: 5 days per year, pro‑rated after 90 days of service.Holidays: 10 paid holidays per year.Konecranes moves what matters.Konecranes is a global leader in material handling solutions, serving a broad range of customers across multiple industries.
