CareersStructural Engineer (SE license required)Greenville, South CarolinaAs a member of Garver's growing Water Design Center, the Structural Engineer (SE) will develop structural designs in support of water and wastewater treatment projects and related facilities. The Structural Engineer will lead a project team of junior engineers, designers, and technicians to produce plans and specifications and manage workload on various Water Business Line projects.This role will provide structural support for a variety of water and wastewater projects. The majority of assignments will involve developing structural designs for new water and wastewater treatment plants or improvements to existing facilities.Key responsibilities:Lead a project team producing structural designs for water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, lift stations, tanks, vaults, and other ancillary structures associated with water and sewer infrastructure projects.Design treatment process basins, chemical facilities, administration buildings, retaining walls, and other supporting structures.Perform structural design calculations, coordinate with other disciplines, coordinate with regional offices and regulatory agencies, estimate construction costs, and ensure quality assurance and control.Assist the Structural Group Leader in managing and mentoring teams, coordinating schedules, monitoring budgets, and ensuring delivery of quality work products that adhere to Garver standards.Travel may be required for site assessment and construction support.Primary responsibilities of the Senior Structural Engineer:Lead a project team in producing structural designs with a great deal of autonomy.Ensure quality program compliance and adherence to Garver standardization.Work within a multi-disciplined team (civil, process, mechanical, electrical, and I&C) on Water Business Line projects.Manage multiple projects concurrently.Maintain time management and work product quality.Mentor, equip, train, develop, and engage junior team members to become effective design professionals and undertake increasingly more complex assignments.Requirements:Registered Structural Engineer (SE)Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABET accredited programTechnically competent in general structural engineering design in concrete, masonry, aluminum, and structural steelProven experience overseeing structural designs, including detailed plans and specifications for major projectsGood communication skills (verbal and written)Strong teaching and coaching skills to bring new team members up to speedPreferred Skills:Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit CAD programsExperience using Bluebeam and MS Office products, including Excel, Outlook, and WordExperience working with a multi-disciplinary team comprised of process, structural, building mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation and control disciplinesActive participation in local professional organizationsGrow With UsGarver offers employee programs such as company-paid professional memberships, support for industry licenses and continuing education, and a comprehensive wellness program.
