Position Overview:
The Structural Engineer has a key role, responsible for the evaluation of existing conditions, the design of structural repair and envelope of protection systems, the management of bidding and construction processes, field observation/verification of work in process, and close client and contractor interaction. The ideal candidate is a reliable, trustworthy individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment where both collaboration and autonomy are valued.
Responsibilities:
- Perform structural inspections regarding the following structural elements: concrete masonry units (CMU), cast-in-place concrete, reinforcing steel, post-tension cables, precast/prestress members, structural steel, and wood framing.
- Ability to read/understand structural plans and specifications.
- Report data in a complete, timely, and understandable fashion.
- Follow all company safety procedures and policies.
- Perform forensic investigations to determine the cause and origin of damage to residential and commercial buildings and provide detailed forensic engineering reports outlining the cause and origin of damage.
- Research technical publications and literature in support of evaluations, and apply engineering principles and practices in accordance with codes and industry standards.
- Manage multiple projects and assume responsibility for project execution within timeframes.
- Communicate with administrative staff and clients to provide timelines and project updates on a consistent basis.
- Prepare structural calculations by hand and using structural engineering software.
- Prepare structural drawings using AutoCAD.
- Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications:
Required:
- Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to climb ladders and conduct inspections at heights, in attics and crawlspaces. You will be required to kneel, crouch, or crawl occasionally.
- Ability to solve practical problems and to effectively communicate. The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Civil Engineering (Structural Emphasis)
- E.I. (Engineering Intern) or able to obtain within six months after hiring by passing the FE Exam.
Preferred:
- Internship experience in structural engineering.
- Experience in AutoCAD.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- Required to drive, stand, walk, use hands to type, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb orbalance, talk, and hear. Body motions and movements include: bending, twisting, reaching, stooping,pulling, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and pushing, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Lifting and/or moving up to 35 pounds regularly is expected, and up to 75 pounds on occasion, with orwithout reasonable accommodation
- This job is located in Florida, with exposure to intense sun, intense heat, humidity, rain, thunderstorms,and other adverse weather conditions
- Job site conditions may or may not be accessible by vehicle and can include wetlands, swamps,grasslands, and fields with uneven surfaces, sand, brush, and other natural and man-made obstacles.
- This job is primarily and regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and construction sites where thenoise level is usually moderate to loud
