A&C is seeking a Structural Engineer to join the Architectural/Structural Engineering Department at our office located in Watertown, NY.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the analysis, design, and preparation of structural engineering documents for a variety of commercial, industrial, municipal, and institutional projects. This position requires strong technical skills, effective communication, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis and design for steel, concrete, masonry, timber, and foundation systems.
  • Prepare structural calculations, specifications, reports, and construction documents.
  • Develop and review plans, details, and drawings using engineering software and CAD/BIM platforms.
  • Coordinate structural designs with architects, civil engineers, mechanical/electrical engineers, and other project stakeholders.
  • Conduct site visits, field investigations, condition assessments, and construction observations.
  • Review shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and contractor requests during construction.
  • Assist with project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and resource management.
  • Mentor junior engineering staff and provide technical guidance as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, industry standards, and client requirements.
  • Participate in client meetings and contribute to business development efforts when appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor''s degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Structural Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain within one year.
  • 5-10 years of structural engineering experience.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable building codes, design standards, and construction practices.
  • Experience designing structural systems for commercial, industrial, municipal, or institutional projects.
  • Proficiency with structural analysis and design software.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to conduct field inspections at active construction sites and existing structures.
  • Ability to travel to project sites as needed.
  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
