LHB has an exciting summer internship opportunity for a Structural Engineering student to work in our Duluth office!

Position Summary

The responsibilities for this position will include but are not limited to:

  • As a Structural Engineering intern with LHB, you will have customized, hands-on training through direct project experience and related additional duties
  • In this internship you will prepare structural design calculations and drawings under the guidance of other structural designers and engineers
  • In this position you will participate in virtual and in-person project and department meetings, coordinate the structural design with other team members, and assist in project drafting
  • You will also perform construction site visits and field observations, answer field questions, and review construction submittals

Minimum Qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABET accredited college
  • Overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel domestically, intermittently
  • Ability to climb ladders, enter confined spaces, and work outside in most weather conditions
  • Upon receipt of an offer of employment, applicants must be able to successfully complete pre-employment onboarding requirements that will include a criminal/civil background check and drug screen, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior completion of structural engineering courses including concrete and steel design
  • Junior or Senior year of college
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Mathcad, and structural analysis software such as RISA and Enercalc
  • Familiarity in using AutoCAD and/or Revit
  • Familiarity with building and design codes
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work with constantly changing priorities
  • MSHA Certification
  • Ability to motivate and work productively with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks, respond positively to feedback, and openness and desire to learn
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing ability

Salary Range

  • The anticipated rate of pay for this position is $20- $23 per hour. Offer will be determined based on the selected candidate’s experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity among our team.
