This individual will remain actively involved in structural design and engineering execution while also serving as a key technical leader responsible for improving engineering quality, accountability, and team development.We are seeking someone who can raise the standard of engineering output while helping build stronger processes, communication, and technical consistency across the organization.Key Responsibilities Engineering Leadership, Design & Technical Oversight Lead structural design efforts across custom steel bridge projects from concept through fabrication supportPerform structural analysis, calculations, and design development for steel bridge systems and related structuresReview and approve engineering calculations, design packages, and technical deliverablesServe as the senior technical resource for complex engineering challenges and design decisionsEstablish and maintain engineering quality standards, checking procedures, and internal best practicesApply and interpret applicable codes and standards including AASHTO, AISC, ASCE, ACI, DOT, and IBC requirementsEnsure engineering deliverables are accurate, constructible, and aligned with fabrication and field executionRemain hands-on in engineering execution rather than functioning solely in a managerial capacityMentor and develop engineers, designers, and detailers across the organizationProvide technical guidance, design reviews, and day-to-day support to engineering team membersHelp establish structure, accountability, and consistency within engineering workflows and deliverablesSupport hiring, onboarding, and development of engineering talentFoster a collaborative, high-performance engineering culture focused on continuous improvementCross-Functional Coordination & Project Execution Coordinate closely with detailing, fabrication, and construction teams to ensure alignment between design intent and production executionReview shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and fabrication packagesSupport fabrication and field teams with technical problem solving and engineering clarification as neededWork alongside leadership to improve engineering systems, workflows, documentation, and communication across departmentsSupport estimating and pre-construction efforts with technical input and design guidanceHelp manage engineering priorities, schedules, and deliverables across multiple concurrent projectsQualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or related Engineering discipline required7+ years of structural engineering experience within bridges, structural steel, industrial, manufacturing, energy, or other complex steel systemsStrong background in structural steel design and engineering fundamentalsExperience performing and reviewing structural engineering design workPrior mentorship, team leadership, or engineering management experience strongly preferredFamiliarity with AASHTO and/or structural steel building and industrial codes including AISC, ASCE, and IBCExperience coordinating with fabrication, detailing, and construction teamsStrong ability to read, interpret, and review structural and fabrication drawingsStrong communication, leadership, organization, and problem-solving skillsProfessional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferredWhat We're Looking For A technical leader who enjoys both engineering design and mentoring othersSomeone who can raise the quality, consistency, and accountability of engineering outputAn engineer who understands the realities of fabrication and construction — not just calculationsA self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environmentSomeone excited by autonomy, ownership, and the opportunity to help shape the future of a growing engineering organizationWork Environment & Physical Requirements Primarily office-based work environment in Greenville, SCOccasional interaction with fabrication teams and shop environmentsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs if visiting fabrication facilitiesPPE provided if entering fabrication or active production areasSchedule: Monday–Friday, full-timeEmployment Type: ExemptTravel: Minimal#J-18808-Ljbffr
