Structural GMAW/SMAW Welding Specialist
Build what protects and trains
- We design and manufacture live fire training systems, modular ranges, and custom HVAC used by agencies across the U.S.

Your impact
- Produce high-integrity welds on steel frames and components for specialized training systems.
- Translate complex blueprints and specifications into accurate, repeatable builds.
- Use advanced welding processes (GMAW/MIG, SMAW, FCAW; TIG as needed) to meet exacting tolerances.
- Set up jigs/fixtures and employ precision measuring tools to ensure alignment.
- Select processes and parameters based on metallurgy and project requirements.
- Drive quality through meticulous layout, finishing, and final inspection.
- Operate forklifts and material handling equipment safely.
- Champion safety protocols and suggest continuous improvements.
What you need to succeed
- 2–3+ years of professional welding experience.
- Fluency reading prints, weld symbols, and technical documentation.
- Competence with calipers, micrometers, and layout techniques.
- Independent, self-driven work style; excellent time management.
- Physical capability for demanding fabrication work.
Education and hiring steps
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must pass pre-screening drug test and background check
- Must pass the welding test prior to being hired
- Complete the application process and in-house welding assessment.
- English literacy: reading, writing, and speaking.
Certifications and process proficiency
- MIG certification (1-inch, all positions).
- Strong in GMAW, SMAW, FCAW (steel) across flat, horizontal, vertical positions.
- Machine setup, parameter dialing, and equipment operation.
- Blueprint reading, weld symbol interpretation, and tape measure accuracy.
Equipment you’ll run
- MIG welder
- Plasma cutter
- Oxy-fuel cutting torch
- Various grinders
- Precision instruments: calipers and micrometers
Physical and safety expectations
- Lift/handle 50–75 lbs routinely and safely.
- Outstanding hand–eye coordination and dexterity.
- Stand and walk for most of the shift.
- Provide your own PPE: welding helmet, leather protective wear, steel-toed boots.
Preferred extras
- Forklift experience (5,000 lb. capacity).
- Comfort with a broad array of hand and power tools.
- Own a personal hand grinder (preferred).
- Willingness to cross-train and continuously learn.
