JOB TITLE: Structural & Payload Design Engineer 4
LOCATION: San Antonio, TX
PAY RATE: $94.50/hour

We are a national aerospace and defense staffing agency seeking highly qualified candidates for a position with a top-tier client.

Qualifying Questions:

Summary: 

  • Develop, integrate, and document structural and interior payload system requirements to establish overall system design

  • Design, maintain, and modify structural and payload components using 3D CAD tools (e.g., CATIA, Siemens NX, SolidWorks)

  • Generate and release detailed product definitions for engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers across the product lifecycle

  • Lead performance analysis, integration activities, and testing to validate and verify systems meet requirements and specifications

  • Conduct and support structural analysis (stress, fatigue, vibration, thermal, etc.) as required

  • Manage supplier activities including design, development, testing, and production support

  • Collaborate with suppliers to optimize designs and ensure alignment with program cost, schedule, and performance goals

  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for design or test-related issues

  • Assist in evaluating emerging technologies and materials for future product development

  • Participate in and lead design reviews (PDR, CDR) and technical evaluations

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements

  • Work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced engineering environment

Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain a SECRET clearance required(not required to start)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field

  • Experience in structural and/or payload design engineering

  • Proficiency with 3D CAD modeling and drawing release processes

  • Knowledge of structural analysis principles (stress, fatigue, materials, etc.)

  • Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems

  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, and configuration control

  • Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

  • Must be a U.S. citizen to comply with security clearance requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in aerospace or defense industry

  • Familiarity with composite materials and lightweight structures

  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus)

  • Experience supporting qualification and certification testing

  • Knowledge of aircraft interiors or payload integration systems

  • Experience working with external suppliers and global teams

  • Familiarity with design for manufacturability (DFM) and producibility
