    Description

Build structures that stand up to the job

If blueprint-driven fabrication is your craft, this role puts it front and center. You’ll translate drawings, weld symbols, and job specifications into strong, clean structural welds—choosing FCAW, SMAW, GMAW, or other processes as facility requirements dictate. Before the arc strikes, you’ll prepare materials with precision: grind, bevel, clean, fit, and position for accurate fit-up. Then you’ll weld plates, beams, frames, brackets, foundations, supports, and more—delivering consistent results while following all company and client safety rules and wearing the right PPE.

    What you’ll tackle

    • Interpret fabrication drawings, welding symbols, and specifications to plan and execute work.
    • Perform structural welding on steel, aluminum, and other materials as needed.
    • Apply FCAW, SMAW, GMAW, or other processes appropriate to the facility and task.
    • Assemble and weld structural components: plate, I-beams, frames, brackets, foundations, and supports.
    • Complete material prep: grinding, beveling, cleaning, fitting, and positioning parts.
    • Work safely and consistently in compliance with company and client requirements, including proper PPE use.

    Where you’ll operate

    • Confined spaces
    • At heights/elevated areas
    • Onboard marine vessels
    • In shop fabrication environments

What you bring to the table

    • Experience as a structural welder in a shipyard, fabrication shop, or industrial setting.
    • Ability to pass a hands-on/practical welding test.
    • Ability to read basic blueprints, understand weld symbols, and take precise measurements.
    • Solid knowledge of welding safety and PPE.
    • Skill with grinders, oxy-fuel torches, welding machines, hand tools, and measuring tools.
    • Self-directed with the ability to contribute effectively within a crew.

From tight fit-ups in confined spaces to elevated work and shipboard tasks, this position rewards precision, preparation, and pride in structural welding.
