Your OpportunityThe role of a Structural Project Engineer is to work independently on small projects, and as a team member of larger projects under the guidance of a Senior Structural Engineer. The engineer evaluates, selects, and specifies engineered systems or products for a project.Your Key ResponsibilitiesIndependently complete calculations and drawings for small projects.Develop job-specific specifications for less complex projects.Coordinate with architectural, interiors, and other engineering disciplines.Perform construction administration duties including field observation reports, responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and evaluating contractor change orders.Perform calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.Communicate design issues and solutions with the design team and owner clients.Understand industry standard design processes and construction means and methods.Work within project scope, budgets, and design approach to deliver projects to clients on time, on budget, and at a high level of client service.Assist with the development of design standards.Your Capabilities and CredentialsRequisite knowledge and application of structural design codes, standards, and applicable building codes.Strong knowledge of structural systems, seismic design, construction means and methods, materials, and industry standards.Ability to communicate both verbally and in written form concepts and ideas to a diverse audience of architects, engineers, and owner clients effectively.Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.Strong organizational skills and ability to work effectively both independently and in team settings.Ability to participate and collaborate in project team settings and to engage in creative and critical thought.Education and ExperienceMinimum 3 or more years of related experience.Bachelor's degree in engineering is required; master's degree preferred.Professional Engineering license is required; structural engineering license preferred.Experience with modeling software (Autodesk Revit).Experience with general business software (Microsoft Office suite).Experience with industry standard structural engineering software (CSI, RISA, RAM, etc.).Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.Work EnvironmentTypical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
