Structural Steel Saw Operator Location: [Fort Collins, CO] Schedule: Monday – Thursday 2:30 pm – 1:00 am Pay: $20 - $24/hour based on experience + shift differential About the Role We are seeking a skilled Structural Steel Saw Operator to join our fabrication team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately cutting structural steel materials—including beams, pipe, tube, channel, angle, and plate—according to specifications. You’ll play a key part in ensuring precise cuts and proper material preparation to support fabrication, construction, and installation operations.
Key Responsibilities
Operate horizontal and vertical band saws to cut structural steel per shop drawings and work orders
Measure, mark, and verify material dimensions using tape measures, squares, and layout tools
Interpret shop drawings, cut lists, and fabrication details
Set up and adjust saw equipment, including blade speed and feed rate, based on material type
Inspect materials before and after cutting to ensure quality and compliance with specifications
Select appropriate blades and perform blade changes as needed
Deburr and finish cut materials as required
Safely operate forklifts, cranes, or other material handling equipment (if certified)
Maintain organized material staging and support inventory control
Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment
Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety standards
Qualifications
2+ years of experience operating structural steel saws or similar fabrication equipment
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and cut lists
Strong understanding of structural steel materials, including W-beam, HSS, pipe, channel, and angle
Basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and measurement conversions
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced fabrication environment
Forklift certification preferred
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
Ability to stand for extended periods
Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching
Comfortable working in an industrial/shop environment
Work Environment
Indoor fabrication shop setting
Exposure to noise, dust, and moving equipment
Required use of PPE (steel-toe boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves)

Experience in oil & gas, industrial construction, or commercial steel fabrication
