Structural Welder

ProTrade is currently seeking an experienced Structural Welder for a long-term opportunity with a growing fabrication shop. We are looking for dependable, detail-oriented candidates with strong welding and fabrication experience who take pride in producing high-quality custom builds.

This position involves welding and assembling heavy steel components in a fast-paced production environment. Candidates should be comfortable working from blueprints, fabricating parts to specification, and handling projects that require accuracy and consistency.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural welding on steel frames, supports, crossmembers, and fabricated assemblies
• Utilize MIG, Stick, and Flux Core welding processes on carbon steel materials
• Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, tape measurements, and fabrication drawings
• Fit, tack, and assemble fabricated components prior to final welding
• Work with tubing, plate steel, channels, and structural materials
• Ensure all welds meet quality and structural standards
• Operate grinders, cutting torches, drills, and other fabrication equipment safely
• Assist with layout, measuring, and fabrication of custom-built components
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment while meeting production deadlines

Qualifications

• 3+ years of MIG welding, Stick welding, and fabrication experience required
• Strong experience working in structural steel or heavy fabrication environments
• Expert-level experience using angle grinders and acetylene torches
• Strong understanding of welding safety equipment and protective gear
• Ability to read, write, and interpret blueprints, schematics, factory orders, and work tickets
• Proficient using tape measures, squares, calipers, levels, clamps, and layout tools
• Strong math skills with the ability to work with fractions and decimals to .06” tolerances
• Experience operating overhead cranes or jib cranes required
• Ability to work independently while maintaining quality and production standards

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Must be able to work in fast-paced, medium to heavy-duty assembly environments
• Must be comfortable working in hot and cold environments (work areas are heated)
• Frequently required for up to 10 hours to:
• • Bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, turn, climb, walk, and stand on concrete
  • Use hands and fingers to handle materials and operate tools
  • Lift and move up to 50 pounds
• Occasionally required to:
• • Climb or balance using ladders
  • Climb on fabricated equipment or assemblies
  • Operate vibrating equipment and tools

Preferred Qualifications

• Welding certifications are a plus
• Experience in fabrication, manufacturing, or heavy equipment environments preferred
• Forklift experience is a plus
