The Structured Cabling Technician is responsible for the installation, termination, and testing of structured cabling systems in large-scale commercial and healthcare environments.
This role combines hands-on technical expertise with field leadership and expertise of Closet Build Outs. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with potential for long-term growth and continued technical training.
Job Responsibilities
Install, route, terminate, and test copper and fiber optic cabling systems, including CAT5e, CAT6, and fiber infrastructure
Coordinate daily project goals, track progress, and adjust plans to meet deadlines
Install cable pathways including J-hooks, D-rings, cable trays, and ladder racks
Perform cable dressing, labeling, and management in accordance with industry standards
Terminate cables using patch panels, jacks, keystones, and modular plugs (RJ-45)
Install and support network equipment such as wireless access points, fiber ONTs, and switches
Construct and organize IT closets, including racks, grounding systems, and patch panels
Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and project documentation
Provide training, mentorship, and performance feedback to team members
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment at all times
Job Requirements
High school diploma or GED required
Minimum of 7 years of experience in structured cabling, low voltage systems, or data cable installation
At least 5 years of experience leading teams in a foreman or supervisory capacity
Strong understanding of structured cabling standards and best practices (including BICSI guidelines)
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents
Proficient in low voltage cabling installation, termination, and testing
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
